2026 Henckel Family Reunion and Annual Meeting to be the weekend of June 19 – 21
New Market, Virginia
Begin making your plans for the weekend of June 19 – 21, 2026 (Father’s Day Weekend) for our annual meeting in New Market. New Market is in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and the area is rich in Henckel family history. It is the home of Emmanuel Lutheran Church founded by Reverend Paul Henckel and the cemetery where he and many members of the Henckel family going back to the early eighteen hundreds are buried, also the home of the former Henckel Press operated by several generations of Henckels beginning in 1806.
FRIDAY – June 19 – 6:30 PM
Reception and registration at the banquet room of Southern Kitchen Restaurant located at 9576 Congress Street.
At the reception we will have the opportunity to meet and welcome new attendees and to visit with our Henckel cousins from near and far. There will be snack trays and Southern Kitchen’s famous meat balls available for reception attendees.
SATURDAY – June 20
9:00 AM Meet at Emmanuel Lutheran Church for registration for those not registered on Friday evening and to review the day’s program.
9:30 AM Panel of presentations by Association Officers (Board of Directors) and local historians.
11:15 AM Move to Pavilion #1 at New Market Park where Southern Kitchen personnel will deliver a box picnic lunch at 11:30 AM.
1:00 PM Depart for Henckel family and New Market Historical facts presentation at Historic Hinkle House and tribute to the late Joseph F. Tusing II who passed away on March 5, 2026.
The Henckel House is located at 9417 & 9419 Congress Street.
6:30 PM Banquet and annual business meeting at banquet room at Southern Kitchen Restaurant.
Please consider joining us! Complete and mail a reservation form, available below. Please note that your reunion reservations can be made with a check made payable to Henckel Family Association, Inc., mailable to Kimberly Hinkle Linger, 1468 Shawnee Drive, Buckhannon, WV 26201 no later than June 4, 2026.
You need to make your own reservations with the New Market Quality Inn. They have reserved a block of 20 rooms for us at $95.00 per night (double occupancy). Be sure and mention you are part of the Henckel Family Reunion for the group rate. You can reach the Inn by calling 540-740-3141 or 540-740-5019. Call and make your reservations prior to June 4th.
If you are unable to attend this year’s reunion please return the reservation form with your $15.00 annual dues and any address or e-mail change you may have. Please include any donation you wish to make to the Germany Valley Cemetery maintenance fund.
The association has available The Henckel Genealogy (The Big Red Book) for $95.00.
The association still has available the Rev. Paul Henkel book for $30.00.
